#-i-wanna-be-a-film-critics-but-successfully-fails. {Jack Sparrow needs help from Doraemon because Priest is busy reading the Bible (even during fighting-scene) }

So I’ve been super busy lately – code word: super lazy; so I couldn’t manage to do a movie reviews. Ever since the last review, I’ve watched Doraemon: Nobita Dan Perang Ikan Duyung & Laut (I know… say WHAT?!), Priest & of course Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Ang, ang, ang…hehe. Tersangatlah kelakar tengok cite ni. The reason I agree to watch this with my sayangs Shamil and Acap (both avid lover of the cute cuddly creature) watched previous Doraemon’s film few years back and didn’t even invite me!!! (Even though they strongly denying it) Pfft… I don’t want to be left out anymore. And also there’s nothing else to see. So with zero expectation, the movie it’s not that bad. To be quite honest, I have nothing to compare to. And sempat lagi bagi my other sayangs (that couldn’t make it) their own characters. Shamil as Nobita, Acap as Doraemon, Me as Shizuka(is that how you spell it?), Dr Reene as Sinyu (is that how you spell it?? I tak tahu!), Hamiz aka Artis as Giant and lastly Sophia (currently in Ireland) as Puteri Sofia… hahaha. Suke bagi watak kat org. Hehe. Anyway, I have a blast watching it albeit there is some cheesy and corny line. Well, what the hell do you expect?

Priest. I would say it’s a study in clichés. Far worse than expectations which were low to begin with. The action was okay but nothing I haven't seen before or seen done better. It wasn't enough to save this movie. The plot was non-existent and laughably hokey. All the way through the movie we found those annoying "ooo… you will get scared now" moments. Damn, macam mane nak dapat balik my RM 9 ????!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now Pirates 4. I’m a massive fan of the Pirates of the Caribbeans franchise. Jack Sparrow is back for his new adventure along with his out-of-control persona and with new cast member in hand like Cruz, McShane and loads other. And also returns, the memorable performance of previous Pirates flick – Rush as Captain Barbossa. So of course, I’m like super giggly and excited to see this movie. But then, truth be told, I am a wee bit disappointed. I like the first three so much better. So so much. On Stranger Tides is not bad or good. I feel it have perhaps had too many moments of exposition and clichés. I also felt the romantic subplot(s) felt involuntary, and while there are some droll, bizarre and witty quips mainly with Depp, Rush and Cruz there is a bit of filler that could have been crossed out. But one thing I absolutely love is the scenes with the mermaids. The scenes are beautifully shot and intriguing. I just wished there’s more of it. And the chemistry between Depp and Rush is excellent. And also I just found out that there is a scene after the end credit. Angelica is sitting on the island (where Jack left her) and found Jack’s voodoo doll. What kind of shenanigans would she do with the doll? Hehe. Just have to wait for Pirates 5!

CAMERON:
Excuse me, meryl streep could play batman and it would be the right choice. she’s perfection. whether she’s divorcing kramer, whether she’s wearing prada, don’t even get me started on sophie’s choice. get emotional just thinking about it. [pause] she couldn’t forgive herself.

*from Modern Family*

LOL. Still makes me laugh for days.

#-i-wanna-be-a-film-critics-but-successfully-fails. {FAST FIVE}

Well, color me surprised... The Fast and The Furious has not been a series known for its intelligence. Indeed, it's always been big, loud, and pretty dumb. Sure the first was something new and somewhat original. But the sequels have been anything but. Yeah I know its high octane fun, but you can say the same thing about Michael Bay films -- all style, no substance (Yes, a quote from Fanboys, No, that doesn't make it any less true!). Am I saying that these sequels are as bad as Michael Bay films? No, but each one offers nothing new, well, unless you count drifting, and that isn't saying a lot.

What really made this one stand out than the rest is how it actually diversified the pace of how the movie normally goes. They didn't have a damn drag race every 10 minutes. In fact, they barely had any -- which is really ingenious, because when the time did come to have an awesome driving sequence, you were begging for it. They ditch the street racing that made its name in favor for being a heist film. But frankly, I’m not entirely impressed by it. There are still much better heist films such as Ocean’s Eleven, the Bank Job, Italian Job, Inception, etc.

However, it's still filled with bad cheesy one-liners and really awful acting. Anyway, stay tuned while the end credits roll, and you'll be treated to a teaser that reaffirms what's to come in the next film, with no less than two surprise appearances. If your diet consists of mindless entertainment, this is your key to salvation.

#-i-wanna-be-a-film-critics-but-successfully-fails. {WATER FOR ELEPHANTS}

It was a bit unexciting. This is the first time; I ALMOST walked out from the cinema. But 'thanks' to Acap, he made me stay for another hour and a half. But the movie is definitely beautiful albeit it’s typical storyline. The screenplay seemed well-written though quite straightforward. The costumes and sets are gorgeous, the cinematography is exquisite, the animals are cute (especially Rosie the elephant). Since I didn't read the novel, I can't attest to its congruency with the film. Waltz will be the go-to person for the upcoming psycho roles. He just digs it I think and he creates the most intimidating gentleman on screen (but he's really beginning to be typecast as such). Witherspoon looked average to me as Marlena, but I may be biased so I won't go into it much. But I've to admit that Pattinson's part as Jacob, from laughter to extreme frustration; he displays a wide array of emotions, showing his worth as an actor. Finally.
