Movie Review for 2010 ... the one that i haven't got any chance to blog except INCEPTION..

So this is list of movies i remembered most throughout the year...

INCEPTION

10/10
In my previous post about - Inception, I still couldn’t get enough of it!!! It was really really good and mindblowingly brilliant. I can’t wait for Nolan’s next masterpiece “The Dark Knight Rises”!!! Woo hoo! But is anyone sad to see the Riddler eliminated from contention? I am!! WHY????! I want my JGL.

TOY STORY 3

10/10
Woody, Buzz and the whole gang are back. Yeay!!!! So, I absolutely adored Toy Story 1 & 2. I went in with really HIGH expectations. And the result is it lived up to my unbelievably HIGH expectations and then some. I was really touched! I just wish the theater was empty. Then I could stop holding back my tears! And of course the comedy is still there, and I was laughing out loud all the way through! The old lovable characters are all here (esp. my fav REX!!,) and they are joined by an army of new ones (Lotso is awesome!!! I bought him in Toys R Us and he does smell like strawberries ;-D). Watch this, and Pixar, don't stop making movies for us!

KICK ASS

9/10
Okay, at first the reason that I watched this film is because of AARON JOHNSON!! Come on people have you seen “Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging”??? Sex God. But then it blew me away. It is surprisingly good. Comprising teen comedy, kick-ass action (hehe.. couldn’t resist.) and a healthy dose of comic book style violence and gore, it rocks. It was like "Spider-Man" and "Kill Bill" had a baby and its head popped off!, and Chloe Moretz easily steals the show as Hit Girl - the incredibly volatile young superhero with a penchant for explicit language. Kick-Ass is a film about finding your identity and audacious enough to do something no one else will. Yet it's also an intricate tale of revenge, which is masterfully crafted to be one of the most awesome pieces of fiction.

SOCIAL NETWORK

7/10
At first I was like really confused like ‘What? a facebook movie? That just spells D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R all over it.” And then they hired Justin Timberlake like WTF? Seriously dude you have no business in film making industry. Go back to music. I want sexyback!!! But with a little bit of faith (David Fincher directed this), I went to the cinema and spent RM 13 and enjoy the movie without any expectation. By the time the movie was over, with the Beatles' "Baby, You're A Rich Man" playing over the end credits, I had a huge smile on my face. It was good, I mean like ‘I-didn’t-expect-this-shit-to-be-good’ good. The outstanding acting (except *cough*Justin), style and direction, as well as the great script armed to the teeth with sharp dialogue is what people are likely to miss by dismissing it as a mere 'Facebook movie'.

EASY A

10/10
I watched these three nights in the row… yes. I have no life. And yes it was freaking awesome!!!! I fell in love with this movie. It’s extremely witty, clever, sharp & out of the box. Emma Stone rocked it! Stone steals the film but thanks to the experience of Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson is well cast as the understanding and 60's hippy mentality parents. They walk a fine line between wacko and genuinely caring and loving parents. They bring out the parenthood in me. I want to be just like them – Dream much? Hehe. I also liked how the film dealt with social media like Facebook and I especially liked Mr. Griffith's comments "I don't know what your generation's fascination is with documenting your every thought... but I can assure you, they're not all diamonds.”Roman is having an OK day, and bought a Coke Zero at the gas station. Raise the roof." Who gives a rat's ass?" Exactly!

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 1

10/10
Wickedly awesome!!! But then again, I love Harry Potter, so I am probably biased. The decision to split the book into two movies was the best decision they made.
They manage to capture the brilliance of the 7thbook, unlike previous movies where they left out too much!!! (Brings out too much of angers for Potterheads like meself). And of course they finally managed to get BILL NIGHY!!! Woo Hoo! Even though he was killed few minutes after that but it was totally worth it. And another stroke of genius is the animated sequence detailing the "Tale of the Three Brothers", an interesting wizard fairytale. W-O-W. I seriously can’t wait for the legendary sequel. July couldn’t come close enough.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD

9.5/10
An Epic of Epic Epicness. That is the movie’s tagline and I couldn’t agree more. I love Edgar Wright’s movie (think Hot Fuzz & Shaun of The Dead … unbelievably good). The jokes were fast and although silly, they weren't stupid which made for quite an enjoyable film. Wright's trademark quick cuts and simple comedy made this film. It has billions of effects and I love it every time Scott hits the Evil Ex's it says "Pow" Or "Boom". It's like playing a video game. Who Needs the 7 Deadly Sins When You Have 7 Deadly Exes?

ECLIPSE: THE TWILIGHT SAGA

3/10
Who needs a spoof like Vampires Suck when you can laugh your ass off during the real movie?

TRON LEGACY

9/10
Trontastic! I have never seen the original 'Tron', nor do I really know much about it really. I've only heard the movie referenced on occasion (like that one episode of The Simpsons where Homer's trapped in the Third Dimension and he asks if anybody saw the movie 'Tron', and everyone says "No."). Anyway, the visual is absolutely stunning (you really should see it in 3D and this is coming from someone who prefers substance over style, and dislikes 3D movies.). And also Hello, Garrett Hedlund. YUM. He reminded me of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker (what with the pulling out of light sabers...I mean discs, donning of cloaks, etc). What else? Oh, yes: the Daft Punk soundtrack. Just bloody AMAZING. It pumps the techno-cool visuals along with urgency and weight like a ton of bricks falling on top of you. (And that's a good thing!)

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER

3.5/10
One word; Rubbish. I mean the first two were delightful. But this one, omg. Sure Ben Barnes was great eye candy but it is so boring and why bothers adapting the book if you’re just going to rewrite the plot? Look the only thing entirely convincing in this movie is the boy who plays Eustace (notably by Will Poulter). You seriously get annoyed by him in the movie, just as much in the book.

LET ME IN

8/10
Finally, a decent vampire movie. And what’s more decent is a kid-vampire. It was much more brutal than grown-up vampire. Chloe (the awesome Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) who played Abby is incredible. I love the slow buildup...the very-well paced dramatic scenes, the cinematography was absolutely amazing (especially the car-crash scene). It was everything Twilight should-have been and more...mature, disturbing, evocative, and thoughtful. I'd rather belong to Team Abby any day!

Urrghhh... IM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!

Ya Allah!!! Why i'm not in New York???!!!

In my previous post about Improv Everywhere, i made an introduction to newbies about the awesomeness of Improv Everywhere. They always makes the people and the creativity wake up. Kudos!

THIS IS THEIR LATEST MISSION!!!!!!!

The MP3 Experiment Seven

From Improve Everywhere
For our latest mission, over 3,000 participants downloaded an MP3 file and pressed play simultaneously in retail stores in Midtown Manhattan. The masses converged on Bryant Park where a series of fun activities unfolded, culminating in a huge “mummy dance party.” This was the 7th installment in our Mp3 Experiment series.

Unbelievable choreography! Syncing more than 3000 people with enough simple activities to keep their attention while tickling their funny bones is quite a feat. A+ + for this one. Sangatlah amazing!!

Kudos to the photogs & editors, who did an absolutely amazing job of capturing the event and conveying its sense of fun.

Before it started, mereka yang terlibat 'disuruh' berlakon konon-kononnye sedang bershopping. Pandai mak cik nih berlakon.

“Hold a product in the air, as if you are in awe of it.” hahaha.

the most fun part was slow dancing with a product. BRILZ.

“March like you’re in a marching band.” OMG. Seriously cudn't stop laughing.

“Form a long line behind a stranger, copying their every move.”

The end of a ridiculously long line behind a mother with a stroller.

Everybody is waiting at the park to surprise STEVE aka Birthday Boy.

This is STEVE.

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jom attack Steve!! Poor bloke. Look at that crowd.

....is something that could happen to me if i don't stop blogging during office hour!!!

my dream was shattered by someone who called themselves as educators

I always knew since I was a little girl I wanted to be a performer...
Anything from singing, dancing, acting and even miming...
I wanted to do it all...
I’m always psyched for any school performance...
I was mushroom number 1, a pussycat, and a princess...

So basically every year in school we have this thing called 'school play'...
Only Junior 4 till Junior 6 are allowed to audition for lead roles...

I can't audition when I’m in Junior 4 because my estranged atuk just passed away...
I was in Kelantan when that audition happens...
so I said to myself, "It's okay, there's always next year. No biggie."

A year after that, I auditioned again. Again, my luck surpasses me. i didn't get that part. But it’s okay. I'm not that keen and I was playing around during audition. I couldn't stop giggling and keep forgetting my lines... so it’s all good... I’m still in the play though... not the lead role but STILL..

So Junior 6. My final year. Audition day: mentally prepared and keep saying to myself over and over again "Don't giggle." The play is "Around the World in 80 Days." I was set to audition to play as Princess Aouda. I put my heart and soul doing the scenes (one of the acts i actually shed tears, amazing, right? i can cry on cue. Haha.. perasan diri ini talented sekejap..) and i got a call back later that day. I was really excited because it seems that for Princess Aouda's role, I’m like the only one who got a call back. And then enters...

AMEERA AIDA.

She didn't even go for the audition. So I was thinking to myself “Why is she here at the callback?". And then I found out I have to compete with her for that part. I was like "Okay... that’s not fair... but whatever. I’m sure the teachers will judge us fairly." so I started acted doing my 2 scenes and Ameera just read lines (actually she just read three words!!) while sitting in the chair. Ahh... I’ve bag the role...

so wake up the next morning with the big smile on my face. In the bus on the way to school, everybody crowded me to say job well done during the audition or "U sooo gonna get that part!!!” I answered with the big grin "Takdela. Tak tahu lagi."

Okay, mase assembly, the moment I’ve been waiting for, they're going to announce the names that made the cut for the play. So I was holding Jenny's hand, and anxiously waiting for my name to be called but....

NOTHING.

My name was not called. FROZEN. I just stood there. Jenny had to usher me back to class. And then I found out that Ameera got my part. I went to my locker and started to cry. But hey I’m a fighter; I’m not letting this go. With all the guts and courage that I have, I went to confront Ms Barbara, Ms Badariah and Ms Maznah. Before I opened the teacher's lounge door, I heard conversations that would change my life forever.

Ms Maznah: Why Erin didn't get the part?
Ms Barbara: She's not pretty enough or skinny enough.
Ms Maznah: Why is it matter? She can act. And she understands her character.
Ms Badariah: Nobody cares about that. They're only 12. Besides Ameera is somebody's daughter.
Ms Maznah: So what? How’s that fair?

I couldn't bear myself to hear that conversations anymore. Even though I’m thankful that somebody still fights for me, but those other two are teachers. They’re supposed to be a guide, a mentor, a confident, a friend, a disciplinarian, an informer, a provider of inspiration and imagination.

I lost myself that day. I’m scared to perform on stage. I’m 22 now and I’m still scared silly… even though it’s been 10 years ago... I want to be my 12yearold-self again… Confident, carefree and most importantly HAPPY. I love performing but …

i want a seahorse headwear!

I should have been the one to break up with you
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I wanna snap your neck and spit on you.
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
If I got a call that said you were dead
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I'd shrug my shoulders and I say, "what-ev"
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"

Hey, have we met before? Oh yeah, I think we have.
Because we only dated for four and a half years.
No big deal, I've only witnessed you sitting on the
couch watching Next in your undies. But it's cool
that you act like you have no idea who I am.

I saw you at Amoeba Records last night,
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
You straightened your hair and had a henna tatto
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I wanna shove your face just shove it.
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
My mother thinks you're in the closet
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"

It's so weird, because when we used to go
out you never even liked the TJ wontons,
and now I have to drive all the way to Mar Vista,
or some stupid place, and eat some stupid
butternut squash raviolli or something,
because you took the last bag like some immature little clown.

I saw you Thursday at the Arclight
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I was on a date you ruined my night
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I saw you shopping at the Trader Joe's
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I see you everywhere it really blows.
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"

Hey, did you ever meet my friend Ian?
He's a computer hacker.
He helped me erase your Myspace page and
your band's Myspace page, and
your Facebook page.
Happy networking asshole!

So remember all the stuff you forgot
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
the Fender Stratocaster you just bought
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
I'd like to see the look on your greasy face
You said, "Who are you? Who are you?"
It sold for sixteen hundred on EBay
You said, "I'll know you, I'll know you."

turns out i'm not a bitch..

the title pretty much sums it all..

Sunday, August 29, 2010

i'm a bitch because i don't "confirm" these people on my facebook?

i have this argument with my lot. well, of course shamil agree with me but others don't. they say that its just plain mean if they don't approve. to me they're just someone who wanted to win "who-have-the-most-friends" title. How fucked up is that? so what if i have second thought about being friends? i mean this people are from school(or as i call it - this loony bin?) - who btw i never talked before in my whole life! why bother then? and some religiously ignoring me for the last 7 years!!! whose being mean now??! i mean come on!!

but...

i want to be ImprovEverywhere's agent!!!

so i'm a big fan of ImprovEverywhere ever since i saw a video of "Frozen Grand Central" about a year ago. it was majestic, obviously awesome and definitely kick ass. so those of you who are oblivion about ImprovEverywhere, seriously you've got to check'em out!!! the missions always make me smile and I hope I can someday participate!!! (dalam mimpi lar ... TT sedeynye.)

Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City.

BLACK TIE BEACH

Applying sunscreen??? scubaTUXdiver??? LOL!

WHO YOU GONNA CALL?

This is awesome! I would have loved to be there! Ghostbusters, the library… and isn’t it cool to be disrupt the quiet a bit? EPIC!!

STAR WARS SUBWAY CAR

That was totally wicked.I love that Princess Leia is reading the RE/Search “Pranks” book under the “Galactic Rebellion for Dummies” cover. The Vader entrance was PERFECT.

INVISIBLE DOGS

Tears of laughter are dripping down my cheeks! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard.

They're like the best kind of scene, where everyone just do their own thing, mingle with everybody, while looking/acting/doing something a bit different. I think that’s why I love ImprovEverywhere so much. You can bring together total strangers from all over the world to laugh and have fun. I guess that’s what it’s all about, huh? Having as much fun as possible, whenever possible. I love their philosophy.
ImprovEverywhere – YOU ROCK!

-The Bourne Salt-imatum- Eat your heart out, Matt Damon

Just a week ago, I returned from a movie hall with my brains in overdrive, trying to decipher the numerous hidden details in Inception. This weekend, I, again racking my brains.....but this time, we were trying to make some sense of the plot which seemed to be heading here, there and everywhere. I kinda got the vibe that this is gonna be like J Bourne flicks.

So I was right. The first half of the movie was restricted to Evelyn Salt running, cops (or CIA or FBI or whoever) chasing her, running, chasing, running and chasing. While those stunts could have made hearts miss beats about forty years ago, there was nothing new about them.

Just when you thought that's all the movie had to offer, it took a whole new look - suddenly it was all about assassinating heads of states, and even more amusingly, about nuclear holocausts. If this was what the movie was supposed to be about, why did we have to watch one hour of Salt-on-the-run stunts? It could have been made a lot better if the director had concentrated on the political thriller side of it.

Regardless, it was still a pretty good movie and definitely worth seeing, especially if you are a Jolie fan. I can honestly say that I can’t wait for the sequel. Moreover or so I think SALT triumphed BOURNE.

i don't obsess. i think intensely.

this pretty much sums it up..

"You musn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."

Photobucket

I'm nearly at a loss for words. Just when you thought Christopher Nolan couldn't get any better than "The Dark Knight", he outshines himself there and continues to deliver another pure awesomeness. This is possibly one of the only faultless films I have ever seen. It is absolutely positive in every way, something which is extremely cool, even more so than Avatar. Usually I try to be careful with over hyping a film, or setting the expectations too high, as film geeks all are guilty for, however for Christopher Nolan's Inception, this really is not possible.

I hate writing something which is pure gushing, but it’s really tricky here. I did not find a thing I did not like about it, I am sure if maybe I saw it a second time, maybe I would find something about it I didn't like but not the first time. The way it is cut, means that there is always action on screen, if not, then the visuals are interesting enough to keep your eyes glued.

Photobucket
The action scenes are well picturised and the music by Hans Zimmer is electronically haunting.

Photobucket
*How hot is JGL??*Kissing the girl sitting next to you won't draw the projections' attention from you, but why not try?

Saying that, I must say, that in a world full of remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels and God knows what, this is a unique chance to see something different and unmatched so far-a strong movie that, surely will be Nolan's latest masterpiece!

Photobucket
